Fiber boards vs MDF and thin underlay

Hi There

I was wondering if someone could help me

I looking to install some quickstep laminated on a old wooden floor on the downstairs, the original floorboards arn't in terrible state but could do with some levelling out

so would it be best to use 6mm fiber boards or a 5mm mdf with a 2mm underlay

Any advice would be greatly appreciated

Boards are'nt going to level the floor?

Best to 6mm ply the subfloor, then Fibreboard, then fit the quickstep.
