hi

just a quick question can you use a gap filler e.g. no nonsense or no more nails to fill gaps around a metal backbox. ive alsways used plaster but i have been told you can use the gap fillers to?

cheers

Use what you want but bear in mind the finish decoration and any potential cracking.

Gyproc Easi-filler for a perfect square (never seen one?).

For small quick repair - car body filler, hard in ten minutes.

Expanding foam to just below the finish surface, then filler once the foam has cured.

In a brick / block wall I would use Hardwall, then plaster skim

Stick with the plaster,
If it a bit of a big gap, bonding then a finish plaster or easi-fill.
Easi fill will creep though on bigger holes.

Fine finish plaster is something I have just recently started using, the stuff they use for decorative work. Goes off really quick and hard. Its solid in minutes so no hanging about. Its really smooth and can be painted soon after application.
Takes a bit of getting use to.

Red devil one time is ok for smaller gaps
