I replaced my old floorboards with nicer reclaimed floorboards. I'd like to fill the old nail holes before sanding and applying lacquer.

When doing my downstairs floorboards 10 years ago I used 20358 ws jenkins joint filler mixed with fine saw dust. But the half container i have left is expired. Google says it has a 1 year shelf life.

Can I use wood glue mixed with sawdust to fill the old nail holes instead? Or is the resin + sawdust mixed together a superior solution?

Everbuild D4 hybrid wood glue sets to a hard yellowish resin
That would be my first choice but try your old filler first -it might still be ok

I'm very hard to please being a perfectionist, so for me only LePage Plastic Wood as filler is good enough. It's a tad expensive but as it never shrinks and accepts stain, it's the one for me. My 1st house I used well agitated papier-mâché which was kinda okay, but now several houses later, it's Plastic Wood for me (y)
