Finally, a grown-up government.

Just winding up the wind-up merchants. Successfully.

I've no idea what the benefits are, I haven't done an in-depth analysis as I don't care. The fact is that we did this debate to death 9 years ago, had a vote and came to a conclusion.

There were undoubtedly pros and cons - of leaving AND remaining. It was a fine judgement, as shown by the close vote.

But that's all in the past!

Starting from the present time, from where we actually are... I'd personally suggest that it would be very good if we could get a better way of trading with the EU. Perhaps the customs union could be good, but there would undoubtedly be downsides so we'd need to look at them. Presumably we couldn't arrange trade deals and would need to comply in many ways which could curtail our freedoms.

What we need is a balanced, sane government that the people actually trust before we could move towards even thinking about it. If Starmer tried it then people would rightly suspect he's trying to rejoin, plus he's an incredibly bad negotiator. He'd probably give away a few islands or something equally stupid, basically whatever the other side ask for.

And also the EU is hell bent on ensuring that we suffer. It has to, it's a bully so it needs to keep the others in their place by making them fear leaving.

Trolling. We got there at last.
I've no idea what the benefits are,
We know
I haven't done an in-depth analysis as I don't care.
That says it all . No idea, just didn't think it through
The fact is that we did this debate to death 9 years ago, had a vote and came to a conclusion.
Yes. And still no benefits, only 41 more years to go

But you admit you hadn't got a clue
But that's all in the past!
Yes

But you should have thought about that 9 years ago

Yes we gave our power away

Pro reform rhetoric, nothing more
And also the EU is hell bent on ensuring that we suffer.
More rubbish. We left, we weren't forced out. It's a members only club that we aren't in
It has to, it's a bully so it needs to keep the others in their place by making them fear leaving.
More rubbish

Thank you for your learned and considered childish insults oh mighty one.

This is how the lefties keep their echo chamber pure, free from contamination by anyone with differing opinions... Insult and say stupid things until everyone with any sense just says "I can't be arsed". You think you win every argument, in reality anyone sensible just gets bored of listening to the drivel.

No insults, just reasoned points
This is how the lefties keep their echo chamber pure,
I'm centrist. No where near the left.

Try again
free from contamination by anyone with differing opinions..
You don't have opinions, just rhetoric
. Insult and say stupid things until everyone with any sense just says
The insults are from you, if you care to check
"I can't be arsed".
We know. No reasoning involved
You think you win every argument, in reality anyone sensible just gets bored of listening to the drivel.
YOu do keep posting unsupported drivel. What do you expect? Blind acceptance

Main benefits are freedom from EU regs making UK more competitive in the financial markets. You might recall a few years back the EU tried to wrestle that away from us and make Frankfurt and Paris the leading financial centres in Europe. - Fail.

We have a far reaching free trade agreement, tariff and quota free, without having to pay billions into the EU budget every year, we're also free to strike trade agreements with other countries, which naturally we've done in spades.

There's too much to lose by re-joining the customs union, the cost would be far too high.

Even Starmer figured it out.

is that actually an overall benefit. please provide the evidence

You might recall a few years back the EU tried to wrestle that away from us and make Frankfurt and Paris the leading financial centres in Europe
false

We have a far reaching free trade agreement, tariff and quota free
not true

UK EU TCA is a thin dea

It is not tariffs free

it is not a free trade agreement

without having to pay billions into the EU budget every year
the cost of non tariff trade barriers costs way more than EU membership

we're also free to strike trade agreements with other countries, which naturally we've done in spades
the trade deals the UK has, add up to a fraction of the damage to trade with the EU

There's too much to lose by re-joining the customs union, the cost would be far too high.
you dont know

you are basing that on your above stated opinions which are not correct

and if Motorbiking is liking your post hie is not correct either

Filly has spent 9 years being WRONG
