finished board

Anyone know where I can pick up some board that is decently finished, either real wood veneer or solid.

I want a simple media unit in the lounge, just 4 pieces in a donut really, all the pre-made stuff is way too complicated/large so the logical thing to do is knock something up - take a fortnight over it and even I might be able to get 4 joints square. Am stumbling at step 1 however, which is acquire said board. something in maple or oak is what I am looking for, the more highly finished the better - any suggestions?

So, you want some "highly finished" board, from which to "knock something up". How about a table top from a furniture store? Alternatively how about a less vague description of what you are trying to do?
