Hi

I would be grateful for some advice on finishing the following:

- Oak Fire Surround
- Oak Handrail

Looking through previous posts, oil rather than varnish seems to be best.

But which oil; tung or Danish?

Yours thoughts would be most welcome

Kind Regards

Rob

In my opinion Danish Oil is better but go for the one made by Smith & Rodger or Classic Finishes - they supply a more structured DO which will offer far better protection that conventional Danish Oils.

Tung Oil is an option but it is recommended you leave it 4 days to dry between coats.

Hope this helps

Hi

Very helpful, thanks for the recommendation. I'm not in any great rush, would Tung oil give a better finish?

Regards

Rob
