Fire alarms/smoke/heat detectors in converted flats

I have a self contained flat. I'm a share of freeholder with upstairs' landlord.

Do I need to put in a fire alarm/smoke/heat detector in the ground floor shared hallway - which is the main fire exit to the street?

Or just inside my own flat?

I have spoken to 3 qualified registered electricians and none think I need to bother about the shared hallway?

Need to make sure the fire alarms are building regs complaint as I want it covered by my building insurance.

Any advice appreciated as ever.

Grade D LD2 system for the communal areas, (smoke detectors in communal areas linked to heat detector in hallway of each flat) and Grade D LD3 system for each flat (independant smoke detector in hallway and lounge) and fire blanket in kitchen.

So how come the 3 NICEIC registered electricians didn't recommend that?

Is this a recommendation or law?
