Hi all

We have a powder fire extinguisher, possibly we got it in 2020-2022 cant remember when but between them years.
I do check it weekly, And over the past few weeks, I have noticed the gauge is going up to high pressure, What should i do about this, discharge it a bit, when it goes to red?

My opinion ... it's showing increased pressure because of increased ambient temperature. As they use a gas as propellant the pressure reading is affected by temperature.

If it can be left somewhere at a cooler temperature, e.g. out of direct sunlight, that might be better for it long term.

You should not discharge it, but monitor it. If it goes into the red for an extended period, that might be cause for concern, as internal components could get damaged.

Okay, I should probably replace it this year as the pin is also faulty, so would be hard to operate in an emergency.

Thank you all for your help, much appreciated.

Is it in a building that needs fire extinguishers by law? It looks likely.

Get it replaced now if so. You don't know when somebody might need it.
