i have installed multi fuel stove in old fireplace to seal the the top i have had a metal plate made with a hole for the chimney. can i seal edges of the plate with a sealant,the plate is 3mm thick so fire cement wont work. any advice would be helpful thanks

Try Fortafix flue seal. Grey metal sells them on line.
