I really need a bit of help here. I am starting installing a solid oak floor shortly pretty much have a good grasp of the process. I will be secret nailing and leaving an expansion gap about 14mm. i intend to replace the skirting with 20mm wide oak skirting.
question is can I nail through the groove on the first plank next to the wall very close to the edge. this is so the skirting will then cover the nail head without using quadrants or similar. Rest of floor will be secretnailed. Only other way is surface nailing further in and filling holes. Thanks

i personally would remove the groove completely in scribing in process
i would then nail at an angle with the top off the nailer touching the wall and the nail in a spot covered by the skirting

you cant nail into the groove as its covered by the wall and half the machine width is greater than the 13mm you have
