I would like to paint my property, however I am totally new at all of this, hence I am looking for advice.

I have the paint I would like to use.... However what brushes, roller and additional equipment would you guys suggest/recommended in order to paint a small bathroom and living room?

Do you guys have any general advice in order to avoid possible problems? (i.e. cover your carpet with protective material to prevent paint damage etc)

Just how keen are you?

For the best finish you want good quality brushes like Purdys and trade rollers but for your first attempt just a roller tray kit (avoid foam rollers) from B&Q or similar, with a set of mid priced brushes will do.

Trade paints are dearer than DIY but cover better, however they need a little bit of experience to use them so start with DIY but expect to apply an extra coat (3 instead of 2) to get coverage.

Below are a couple of links I posted recently both have most of the information you need to get started.

The key is preparation and washing out brushes & rollers thoroughly after use when you think they are clean wash ’em again!

Both good books maybe the Collins might just have the edge.

Happy painting!
