Just had all my walls and ceilings re-plastered and need some advice as to which rollers to use etc.

I have tried rollers in the past and always revert back to using a brush after one wall due to the roller sliding rather than rolling and when it does the paint not going on evenly.

As I have a whole house to do, looks like I need to get to grips with a roller, so, can you guys help?

I am planning on using a matt emulsion on walls and ceiling, and will be watering down the first ceiling coat to a 60-40 mix.

Just need some advice with regards to which roller to buy for walls and which to buy for ceilings and any advice regarding paint would be appreciated too.

Firstly you need to ensure that the skim is dry before painting, and you should apply a mist coat to all new plaster before you start with your topcoats. Both these points are very important.

With regard to the roller, you would need a medium pile such as Hamilton or the Purdy white dove. Two of the challenges to overcome are don't use two much pressure, and spread the paint evenly on the substrate.

Always finish with light strokes and when you remove the roller from the wall dont allow it to stop turning but remove when still spinning.
