Hello all, this is my first post to this forum so go easy!

I have a large hallway that has 3 switches to control the main light. I wanted to put a PIR switch in here so I bought an EcoSwitch (see here if you haven't seen one before), without realising that it wont work in a two way situation (without using 2 of them anyway!). After much scratching of head, I thought that instead of trying to replace one of the switches with it, maybe I should fix it to the ceiling near the rose, and just feed it the Live and Neutral from the light. This way, no matter where the 3 switches are, the PIR which is now in parallel with the switch circuit (a sort of master switch if you like) will complete the circuit and turn on the light. Am I correct in my thinking or am I just looking to end up a crispy critter at an early age?

TIA!

"For existing 2 way lighting circuits using a conventional 3 core cable, AEI have also produced a version allowing two separate units to operate with one of more light bulbs or fluorescent fittings on the same switch circuit. It features full lux and time controls and is supplied as a twin pack. The ‘T’ version is ideal for stair ways and corridors."

did you buy the T version at £79.99?

If not, you can only use this switch as a master switch, having overall control over this light, and it wont be overridable using the other switches. Looks like you need to wire it between the live from the ceiling and the live to the first switch.

EDIT: just re-read your post. You could wire it like this, but your switches would be unable to turn the light off once it has been activated. Nothing electrically wrong with it. Remember though, you need to feed it with live and SWITCHED LIVE, not live and NEUTRAL. Or you and your switch will end up being crisp critters.

No. The T version is just a twin pack of S versions I reckon. This one has three connections, you can connect the centre connection to another of these and 'the EcoSwitch' automatically reconfigures itself'. I dare not put 240V into this middle connector...

Thanks for that. I did mean 'switched live', not being a sparky I didn't know the terminology. I will try it and see what happens. If I don't post back within a couple of days, check the hospital or morgue...
