Hi Folks,

As per title, installing a double panel radiator that's approximately half the width of its single panel predecessor.

I was hoping (for the time being) to not have to cut the existing pipe and soldier new connections, and was thinking of using 2 x ~400mm valve extensions, but they only seem to go upto around 70mm max length.

The piping is close to the wall so would be difficult to cut with a circular cutter - its a job in totality that I would rather face another day hence putting it off.

Any ideas of options without cutting and relocating existing valves?

Thanks

Ignoring the question: Why? and,

Assuming std 1/2"/15mm plumbing:

Remove a rad valve and replace with compression elbow. Use appropriate length pipe pieces to get to/from the rad.
You can use a straight rad valve to connect to the rad (saving yourself from using scrd union)

Or just make your own tails with pipe and a scrd union as required.

Will look rubbish, but it will work if looks are unimportant.

1. Don't forget that the distance from the inlet / outlet pipe centres to the wall will be different for a double as opposed to a single. So you will have some pipework to change unless:
1a. There is sufficient movement in the pipes to accommodate the difference. And / or:
1b. You can use the long / short side of the mounting brackets to make up the difference.
2. You are unlikely to get the same amount of heat out of a double at half the width as you do from a full width single, assuming same height.
