How should I fix the brass plate for a flush bolt in the middle of a carpeted floor?
I’m using flush bolts to keep the outer doors of a 4 door room partition closed. Bolts in the top of the doors fasten into the door frame, whereas those in the bottom need to fasten into the soon to be carpeted floor.
The plate is about 36mm by 18mm with a central hole to receive the bolt and a screw hole at either end.
Do I just have the carpet fitted as normal and then screw the plates down with long screws through both the carpet & underlay into the wooden floor or do I need to fix some sort of plinth for the underlay to go around so I’m only fastening through the carpet?
What would a carpet fitter expect to find?
Thanks…
