Hi, we are trying to fit a wire cable lighting system. We've put the 12v transformer under the floor boards, and weve put a 3amp fuse between the between the lighting switch and the transformer. It worked for a few hours then blew the consumer unit. I am wondering if it should be wired into the ring main instead as it came with a 3 pin plug. What do you think? And if so, can I still use my lighting switch on the wall? Should I just uprate my fuse?

Thank you, but what do you recommend I do? Any ideas?

Sorry, im not explaining myself well. I just mean the switch that flips down on the consumer unit when there is a short circuit or something. It was the one for the downstairs lighting at the back of the house and when I switched it back it was fine but the lights arent working. Ive not replace the 3amp fuse which is inline yet. Its just happened today and Ive no replacements. thanks for this help.

i dont know if the 3 pin plug on the device had a 3amp fuse in it: im wondering if we should upgrade the fuse thats between the transformer and switch, but the lighting circuit is 3amp on the consumer unit i think.

still not tried using the
