Fitting an RSJ

Seriously though if the OP uses a standard lintel, then no need for calcs. Also, many LA's don't require calcs for small span beams

As Shy says £80-100 for a beam calc. I usually give my SE a ring he quizes me over the phone as to dimensions, floors, walls etc and produces a calc for me. I usually give him £60 cash and the whole process takes about 10 mins.
Mind you i pretty much have all the calcs i need for straight knock throughs for most of the houses i ever work on.
 
Did a calc for 4 beams on the same job yesterday for £235+.

Three of the beams were downsized considerably on what the client had previously been advised by a steel supplier. So, client happy, me happy and the world turned round again last night.
