Hi folks, going to be fitting this for my parents soon and wanted to run through some things.

I understand it's all about getting it as level as possible and not bending the frame out of shape when fixing. But I'm not sure about fixings. Should I use frame fixings, or just concrete screws? And will 4 fixings each side and 2 at the bottom be enough?

And do I need to fix the sill down, or just do that when I fix the door to it?

Then sealing it. Expanding foam around the edges, then just a silicone sealant round the edge? Or should I be adding some beading inside and out?

100% level square and plumb! or you will have all sorts of problems with the door.
Concrete fixings are best as they are self packing, No need to mess around packing out the frame.
Fix the threshold down to the cill but I dont recommend fixing all the way down through the bottom as it could cause drainage issues.
Beading or trims as required to cover old paint scar lines.

Thanks Gazman

Can you explain what you mean about the concrete fixings being self packing?

Because the concrete fixings are threaded along the whole length as you wind them in they grip the frame at the same time as biting into the brick so you can alter the gap between the frame an brick by using the screw instead of a frame packer

Also, I've seen videos of people fixing the cill to the threshold before installing. Is that the best thing to do? Or just put the cill in place and the door on top, levelling it out as required?

No dont fix through, As I said it can cause drainage issues/leaks. Also even if you get the cill 100% level its the door threshold that needs to be 100% and once the weight of the door is on the cill the level may change a fraction, Its easier to just level the door once its in.

Cut the cill into position then silicone the back edge and the 2 ends. Sit the door on top and screw the door theshold to the cill without going through the bottom of the cill.

I prefer to fix down to the cill, You may find that you need to move the bottom of the door left/right a bit, If your screws are underneath you would have to take the whole door back out.

Hi all, our new home construction has been started and I am confused about the window installation. I planned to buy the windows from Landmark Home Solutions and have planned for dual hung on one ground and sliders on the other floor. Seriously I do not want sliders throughout my whole house, but will believe the fact that protection first when it comes to the rooms. I do not think it would look bad or unusual, but that's just my point of view.

What do you people think on the window selection?

Opinions? Thank you!!

Personal opinion that one I think!
