Hello, really stupid question but don't want to ruin my new gates! Got a ring latch to fit but before a make a massive hole need to make sure this is the way to fit it! The hinges i have got are hook and band. Do I simply drill a hole through the whole gate to attach?

the hinges are not relevant to the way you attach the latch, but hang the gate and make sure it swings and closes to your satisfaction before you fit the latch.
The hinges are attached with screws so a "massive hole" is not required.
