Fitting kitchen tap - almost there but a small problem

I bought a replacement monobloc tap for the kitchen as the old one was a bit tatty and dripping.

I managed to get the old push fit connectors off (though it wasnt that easy - I'm not that strong), they were brass ones with little sleeves you have to push in. I used a cheap tool from screwfix to get them off.

Fitted the new tap and pipes, but the cold one leaks. I presume the seal is damaged a bit on the push fit connector, though one thing i noticed was that when originally fitted (new house, 6 years old) the pipe length was only just long enough to sit in the connector just enough, it really ought to be a half inch longer I think. But regardless, it's dipping.

So, I bought some replacement push fit bits: http://www.screwfix.com/p/conex-cuprofit-straight-coupling-15mm/60835 (no collars on these) but they are an inch shorter than the old ones, so there is not enough pipe to use these ones and connect the two halves. I can't find any longer ones on screwfix, the sheds, or plumbase. That leaves me a bit stumped.

Extend the pipe.

or cut them back and try something like Toolstation 13532 if you have room.

if you have room.

If you don't, speedfit do a 150mm/6" version in 15mm x 1/2". Just needs a male adaptor to convert to copper to copper.

Assuming they are suitable for drinking water, the only thing is I have now removed the old fittings so all I have is the simple copper pipe coming out of the wall at a 90 degree angle, and the copper pipe coming out the tap. Will I be able to get away without an elbow using these flex pipes? I'm guessing it would be likely to kink.

Flexis have to have smooth, slow curves, not be sharply bent.
