Hi,

I'm swapping some existing fixed down lighters for moveable ones. The hole needs to be bigger for the new lamp but I cant use a holesaw as there is already a hole there.

Is there simple way to centre a hole saw over an existing hole?

Regards,

Jon

either stack the holesaws ( ie one inside the other on the same arbour ), or screw a piece of wood over the back of the hole and re-drill the pilot..
the later usually ends up with you having to patch the 2 screw holes but a bit of filler does that job nicely..

There's no simpler way than marking the new diameter on the ceiling and using a simple plasterboard-padsaw. It's not as if you have hundreds to do, is it?

Cut a hole with the new holesaw in a bit of thin plywood, place over existing hole and drill with care, done it a fair few times to good effect, but this technique does take a bit of skill.
