I currently have a door between two rooms which I want to replace with 2 doors making a wider opening. The wall between the rooms is not a support wall but is build in blocks, and over the door is a lintel.

I want to remove this door and its frame plus lintel, whilst supporting the cieling with props, and put a new lintel in to the new door width.

How difficilt is this type of work to do? I'm pretty good at DIY, I did try to get a builder but they are like gold dust where I live.

If its not a supporting wall then why do you want to support the floor above?

I did the same job last weekend, albeit a supporting wall. I just hired a couple of props with strongboys and inserted them 2 courses above the old wooden lintel. Then I removed the old lintel and the bricks needed to insert the new concrete lintle and popped it straight in, packing with slate to ensure a good fit.
