I want to create a new door opening in a load bearing wall. It will be approx. 30cm away from an existing door opening. I don't think there will be room between the end of the existing lintel over the existing doorway and the new lintel I want to place. My question is, can I place the new lintel above the existing one so they over lap by a few centimetres?
