Dear all,

Roof structure: I have a traditional roof, with a purlin on both sides, (see picture for your reference.

Problem: You can see a curve (2-3cm between rafters and purlin) in old purlins, the gap between rafters and purlin are filled with wood wedges, to re-level the roof. there are few 1-2 cm cracks on the ceiling and ceiling-wall part.

A structure engineer come and mentioned

" There are 3 braces to the front purlin and 2 to the rear. Only one set of bracing is chocked between the feet of the bracings."

Suggest me to put additional layer of timber on top of current timber and bold up the two timbers and get more brace.

Does anyone has the experience and know the best way to correct it.

Thank you.
