I have recently built an extension to the rear of the bungalow. Originally this was a gable end and the sunblind was rawlbolted with no problem. However, the extension is hip ended and thus has one course of blocks on a Catnic lintel. Will this single course support the sunblind OK with chemical fixings (rawlbolts will split the block) or is there an alternative other than abandoning the sunblind.

You will probably need some sort of [flat] steel sections fixed vertically part way down each side of the opening which are in turn connected to a steel (or possibly timber) section across the top which you can fit the awning to

Thanks Woody, I did think of something like your valued suggestion, but have now decided to abandon the awning and use an umbrella type.
