Hi all

Getting a new bottom right winder staircase built which has a newel post on the left hand side. This will sit on top on existing parquet flooring with concrete underneath.

Does the newel post need to be fixing into the ground, and if so what method is the best?

Thanks

Assuming you want a hidden joint, you could resin in a steel dowel to both floor and post. Alternatively if the winder section is full stringer, you could fix that down (on the inner side) to the existing floor with metal brackets...pinenot :)
