Fixing options for recessed aluminium channel into plasterboard ceiling

Hi there.
I am installing some led tape and want the aluminium channel recessed into the ceiling. I don't want to drill and screw the channel (it creates an unwanted bulge where the tape runs over the screw) so I am wondering what glue/double-sided-tape might be up to the job and whether I need to use a primer on the exposed gypsum first. I have tried regular trade grab adhesive and double-sided tape (on bare gypsum) - neither of which worked. Beofre I go and buy many products to experiment with, I was hoping someone may have a ready-made solution? I am also thinking CT1?
Recess is 10mm wide and 5mm deep.

Should be no bulge is screws are countersunk.

Doesn't have to be good as long as the screw is only fractionally larger than the hole.

The other issue I have with screws, is having to have something substantial above the plasterboard to screw into. There won't always be a joist.

Don't you think ceiling will look strange with track stuck in it? I did not use a track but stuck it to the rear of coving and dropped coving 30mm off the ceiling
