You are well and truly blinkered, you probably think labour is doing well in running the country too. You will need a lie down when Nigel get's in power. There will be none of this making excuses and blaming others.
The UK electorate is fundamentally conservative, with a small c.
Ergo, all other things being equal, the cons usually get voted into government.
People want to maintain or improve their standard of living, for no additional cost to themselves.
Given the relatively safe status of their core support, the cons can keep riding the wave of delusion and find "blame" groups to deflect from the reality.
That the UK is in a (un) managed decline, because the electorate doesn't want to pay for what they demand.
That a standard of life costs, and has to be paid for.
Eventually, through voter fatigue / tory corruption and incompetence, Labour get in.
As is their core value, they try to right the ship (invest). Not always perfectly, but that is what they stand for.
Which costs money. Through either tax rises, borrowing, or both.
Tories campaign on "Labour can't be trusted with the country's finances", and get in again.
Rinse and repeat.
Ultimately, there is no magic money tree.
But the answer is not immigrants, "efficiency", much that it satisfies some.
If you want posh meals, you can't expect to pay' Spoons prices forever.
