Flags to be Replaced

Whilst it's not happening in my immediate area, I don't particularly like seeing the flags going up here there and everywhere. For me though, it's as much to do with the esthetics than anything else. Certainly up here, we've never been the sort of country to have Saltires flying everywhere you turn, unlike say the States. Just not something I've been used to seeing.

I didn't say I do. I'm simply stating the fact if I'd grown up in a country where many had the flag of their nation (or the Union Jack) flying in their front garden, and if our high streets had been bedecked with flags, then that's what I'd be used to. However, certainly in recent decades (can't comment historically) that's not what we've been. So to see flags being put up here there everywhere is different to the norm, certainly in my lifetime.

What if you lived in a country influenced by social media, and that country had a far right candidate vying for power and say there were anti-foreigner riots instigated by that far right mouthpiece and that following from that ant-foreigner sentiment, thousands of flags suddenly began appearing on lamp posts, traffic islands and bridges, by Reformists and fans of Yaxley Lennon?

The flags on lamp posts that have been placed everywhere by patriots are getting a face lift soon. We were due to remove them in certain areas but it has been met by a fair amount of resistance. The new proposals are to have the flags removed and replaced with plastic sign flags so that we can place them at the correct height and facing onto the pavement rather than onto the road. This should keep everyone happy as they will become a permanent fixture.
