Flame detection light always on

Hello all,

Please help.

I have a Vaillant Turbomax VUW 242 E/282 E, gas boiler which is about 10 years old. The boiler does not light-up & hence no hot water or central heating.

Even when there is no demand for hot water or central heating the flame detection light is on, its always on. The boiler will not ignite because it thinks its already on.

The problem started few days ago, before that no problems.

Have you tried resetting it by turning the selector switch to the further unmarked spring loaded position for a few seconds?

Yes I have but no luck.

Also tried switching it off from knob & from mains switch, still no good. How does the flame detection work?
