Hi,

Has anybody ever had to do a pitched roof abutment to a solid wall with a rendered finish? obviously you can't use a cavity tray to a solid wall, so do you tend to do anything else additional to the lead flashing? i.e .do you try to cut a DPC into the wall as deeply as possible?

Thanks

You don't need to do anything as you do not have a cavity.

Thanks Alastair - that's what I thought, logically. But just wondered about the risk/possibility of the existing solid wall getting saturated and dripping into the new extension and if building control would query. But I guess with a solid wall, it just is what it is....

Render is a waterproof layer, so no DPC is necessary to a solid wall.

The flashing needs to be flashed to the wall, not the render and turned into a joint and a bellcast formed above the joint
