Hi

Just removed paper from ceiling, the ceiling is plasterboard, however the plasterboard has been painted.

I'm trying to achieve a flat finish would it be possible to achieve a flat finish using Artex textured finish (ready mix) only reason i want to use this, is the room is very small 1.7m x 1.7m and its avail from our local diy store. Or would it be better to use another product. I'm planning to use PVA on the painted plasterboad to allow the for better adhersion.

Any advise would be much appreciated

Personally I would reline the ceiling with another layer of board. On most of my rooms where the finish was really bad, I found out where the joists were, marked the positions on the walls and thrown up another layer of 9mm plasterboard. After a quick taping and jointing it looks like new! Maybe the long way around but looks far better for a flat, smooth finish.
