What happens the metal mesh corrodes and the no support to the internal rubber and it blows?

yep and whatever has corroded the braid has also been in contact with the rubber, Bleach/ cleaning products /flux/ etc etc

Leave it for the next few months and lets see

Cheap flexi's, usually non stainless steel braiding go rusty like that, the braiding snaps, the rubber hose balloons and then pops. As suggested, If it's not already changed then off with the water until it is.
