Floating Floors - Do The T&G Need To Be Glued?

When floating solid or engineered wood floors, does the T&G between each board need to be glued? Each manufacturer has it's own patent on their T&G connection, and most are pretty solid once they 'click' together, so I wonder whether glue really is necessary?

Also, can floating floors be laid directly onto concrete (as long as a DPM is present) or timber floor boards/chipboard? Or is it recommended to lay a lining between the existing floor and the new floated boards (acoustic and insulation properties aside)?

You need to lay an underlay designed for floating floors, the fibreboard style is better than the thin foam film, some underlays have a built in DPM.

Click system floors are designed to be installed without glue, so you won't need glue. Pure toungue and groove will usually need to be glued when fitted floating.
