Flood light bulbs keep blowing

Hi, I have 2 PIR flood lights connected to my garage power supply (each wired via standard 3 way cable and plugged into separate sockets). Both keep blowing bulbs - I have replaced one light with a brand new unit and this blew within a week. The problem has only started recently, they worked fine before.

Any ideas?

Cheap lamps?

Touching the quartz envelope when installing them?

How long have you had them? Less than a year? Could seasonal wildlife changes be triggering them a lot more often?

And not that it's a factor in this, but why plug them in? They are permanently attached lights - plugging them in is horrible.
