Hi there i am hoping to sand my floor which is currently a pretty orange varnished pine finish.

i intend to sand it, lye it using woca lye then finish it.

however the website says that i have to finish it with oil. can i finish lye'd wood with varnish ? and if so what kind ?

Thank you so much

Samuel

Never used it before but be warned that it contains sodium hydroxide

Failure to seal it would burn your feet and it would get dirty.

There is pretty good post application advice here

http://www.danecare.co.uk/homepage.php?page=How to soap...

let us know how it goes.

good luck

BTw a water based varnish would only yellow slightly in time without the need for the lye
