Hi, I’m putting In a suspended floor, joists size 150x47,c24 5m span 40cm apart, resting on a load bearing wall half way, using 22mm chipboard Flooring,
should I use noggins, also is it against building regs to not use them? Thanks

They should be the same cross section (or at a mimimum 80% of the depth and same thickness) as your joists, in a straight line, (not hit and miss). On 5m joists straight down the middle of the room is the way to go. BTW, they are called "solid strutting" - noggins can be any cross section, don't need to be in line and therefore there is no guarantee they'll do what solid strutting will do, namely stiffen the floor

John doesn't like chipboard. He thinks it is the devil's spawn. I think it just needs to be installed correctly
