Hi, I'm having new flooring put into one of my rooms at home but can't decide wether to have laminate or carpet but I'm struggling to calculate the floor area.

The room is a triangular room as I live in a block of flats and this is a corner plot.

The dimensions of the three walls are 3.15 x 2.31 x 3.3 meters in length. At this moment in time I'm struggling to calculate the floor area as the room is triangular and its been a while since I've ever done anything like this.

So I would appreciate it if anyone could help me out thanks.

are 2 walls at right angles if so multiply those walls then half the result
although if its carpet you will be charged the cost off the square room size

laminate will be actual room size plus around 15- 20% wastage for the extra angles

No the walls are not at right angles that's why I'm having trouble working out the area of the room, otherwise this would be a straight forward calculation.

Break it into smaller right angled triangles. Then calculate the areas and add together.

Although, you will have to allow quite a bit for wastage if the walls are at odd angles.

take which ever wall you want the carpet to run parallel to
measure the distance to the corner at right angles[shortest distance]
multiply one with the other then deduct half then as i said before

it may be more economical to select another wall if it closer in length to the roll size as in roll width 14ft wall length 13ft 9"
