Floorboards becoming squeeky

Over the last 6 months I've noticed loads of my floorboards becoming squeeky . Is there anything I can do to stop the squeaks apart from lifting the carpets/laminate and screwing them down ?

Stop walking on them.

Or do the thing you don't want to do (or ignore the squeek).
