Flooring on Overboard UFH Advice Req

Hi we are having our house renovated and installing an overboard underfloor heating system (wet).

we wanted to install an engineered wood herringbone system however getting massively conflicting advice on it all - from the suppliers of the underfloor heating & the floor suppliers/installers.

I’ve been told we can & can not have a floating click/connect herringbone floor by all parties.

Now appreciating that herringbone is best suited to a stick down system could we install a 6mm Layer over the top of the overboard, screw down ( missing the pipes of course) then stick the herringbone to that?

some people suggested a 6mm ply wood however I always thought ply wasn’t a good conductor or could we use a cement board - thinking it would disappeared the heat better?

it may be a case we have to go for standard planks but it’s it the look we wanted.

any advice from previous experiences would be greatly appreciated as the supplies/installers are completely conflicting….

Speak to the manufacturer of the Engineered flooring you are looking at for their installation advice. Most Engineered Herringbone is designed as stick down only.

An Alternative may be Amtico/Karndean LVT stick down.

Re your wet ufh- if that's the only space heating in the house and you're heating it with gas or oil you'll struggle with efficiency and comfort. ASHP or GSHP on the other hand would probably work rather well (low output temp all day rather than bursts of high output temp)
