Hi,
I've got a waste solvent waste pipe that I need to connect to 40mm or 32mm compression fittings and pipe. I'm not sure of the outer diameter, i think its around 34mm. At one end of the pipe run it connects to a connector on the toilet waste with 'S8M' stamped on it, which a bit of googling tells me might be 1 and 1/4 inch diameter ??

Some guidance on sizes of connector/adapters would be handy, thanks .

Thanks.
Will 32mm OD pipe fit snugly into that S8M connector on the toilet waste ?

ABS (edited) Waste pipe and pvc round ducting are sold on internal diameter 32,40,50 etc. So the solvent fittings are even bigger than that.
The pp push fit waste pipe is done in inches so the external diameter is about right so it's smaller.
However the compression fittings fit both ways so they're your saving grace.
The anomaly is 110mm soil pipe which is push fit and solvent weld, exactly the same pipe either way, just how you'd expect life to work!

Soil pipe is uPVC which has the advantage of being able to be solvent welded, but 'ring seal' joints are usually used, to allow slight movement in the system I suspect.

Waste pipe is either ABS or Polypropylene, ABS can be solvent welded, PP cant, but both have their advantages and disadvantages, depending on application. If you want to do a proper job, use ABS stuff, just assemble it all first before attempting to glue anything. ;)

Good point i was confusing abs and pvc as they are both solvent weldable, edited that!
