Flow meters?

Hi everyone,

I've been looking at flow meters recently, and can tell that they are obviously useful to certain industries. I just wondered what the benefits would be to a household, and are there any? I assume that an ultrasonic flow meter would be better anyway, as I believe this allows you to take it off and move it from appliance to appliance (if needed).
