We have just used a Comapny called LDV to locate a leak on a sealed system, which they did very quicky, using Accoustic testing (powerfull microphone attached to each rad tail, this showed a leak under the concrete floor in the lounge, they then used a heat seeking camera whch showed a hot spot in the floor, they then introduced tracer gas into the system via the nearest rad ans used a "hydrogen" detector to confirm that the tracer gas was present in the suspect leak site
a damp test was then carried out on the floor to fully confirm
They were very efficient and the job was virtually "non invasive"
so full marks to them!!![]()
With underfloor suspect leaks I listen to each rad tail with an acoustic stethescope.
I also have an ultrasonic sound meter which can "hear" leaks but only with gas or high pressure water.
