You are going to need a multimeter or a proper voltage indicator (NOT a neon screwdriver).
Take the cover off the fitting and check if there is 230 volts at the power input connector.
If there is then there is something wrong with the fitting
If there is no power then there is a fault with the switch or the wiring - a much bigger problem!
