AFAIK each player has one person in the studio assigned to watch them.Their position is transposed onto a scaled computer and it's worked out from there

One theory I put forward on Wed, was maybe the have some form of chip in the prem/uefa badges, and Andy Greys computer, "you just dont count those"

well i know a lot of teams use a computer programme called prozone to track players during the matches, so i assume tv companies must use the same. How it does it i dont know!
