hello all. just dug the trench for footings and hit the water table at 700mm deep on clay soil! i need to go 1m deep and don't know what to do?

it is for a cons/ext which will be exempt from build regs.

thanks in advance

If soil conditions are no different at 1m than they are at 700mm and if there are no other restrictions i.e. drains, ground height variations etc AND if you are digging virgin earth, then why bother going deeper.

You will still achieve decent ground cover at 700mm deep with say 225mm of concrete in the trench.

If the trench fills with water bail it out with a puddle pump just before pouring the concrete.

Try and remove any soggy material from the trench bottom before shooting the muck in.

Try and dig the trench so that any water filling the trench is angled towards a low point or a sump.

that makes sense mate but i was going to 1m due to trees about 16 meters away.

cheers
