Is there a greater risk of rotation?

The wall is central.
There would need to be some extreme width of the strip, and the strip would need to be thin, as the deeper the strip the harder it is to rotate.
I've had another bricky out and he's says the reason the footings are flush with the ground level in places are it would've been to save them digging so much soil out but still get a good thick footing. He said he'd have liked to have 1 course below ground but he's seen and worked on worse. I now thinking I might have read one too many beginners guides after all
