Ford Focus 2006 starter motor

Hi all

my Mrs has a Zetec. On Saturday there was localised flooding, we were driving through a huge puddle and the car stalled. We tossed up to who would get out and push and yep I lost !

after 15 mins, after numerous attempts the car started and got us home. Tried it today and it appears the starter motor is defective. Battery has full power. Lights come on and it doesn’t engage. Could the water have killed the starter motor ? Is the anything else I could check.

Before you jump in with a replacement, just check the large fuses near the battery positive terminal will you?

Does it click? If not either no power to the solenoid or solenoid goosed. Mind you I am assuming cars still have solenoids.... been a long time

If starter is dead no noise at all ,worth checking starter relay .
