I have a 2001 Ford focus with a hydraulic clutch. The fluid keeps going down but i can't find a leak. The master cylinder appears dry, does anyone know how and where i can locate the slave cylinder??? does the gear box have to be removed???

Sounds like the slave, which I think will be inside the gearbox on that model. So yes it would have to be removed.

Of course, Mr Haynes will tell you...

The slave cylinder is integrated into the release bearing, so yes, you will need to remove the box.
If the cylinder is leaking, chances are you will have a fluid leek somewhere at the bottom of the bell housing.

If it is leaking, it will probably be worth while replacing the friction plate, as it will most likely to contaminated with fluid.
