FORD GALAXY FAN CUTTING OUT

IN COLDER WEATHER MY FAN CUTS OUT AFTER MAYBE 30 SECS AND I HAVE TO LEAVE IT A WHILE BEFORE IT WILL KICK AGAIN. DEFROSTING THE CAR IS VIRTUALLY IMPOSSIBLE. ANY IDEAS ??

Doesn't the Galaxy have a quick clear screen?
Anyway, the speed resistor on the fan will be playing up, I guess....sorry, no idea how to get to it.

yes it does have a quick clear. could be resistor but if i turn the heater temp down it can cause it to run a bit then stop. i hear stories about a filter that can stop it ??
